Gran Farò Of San Giovanni

The eve of San Giovanni, the patron saint of Turin, the Gran Farò was set on fire in Piazza Castello.

                                                                     The Waiting

 The Burning

The Taurus symbol of the city, was placed on top of a pile of wood, according to the believe, the burning should chase away the troubles of the past year, if it dropped toward Porta Nuova.

The Falling

And it did, a good omen, according to the tradition, for the next twelve months. The fate of the city, for those who believe, will be good.

Beg

There are many beggars in Torino, everyone has his own 'style' of getting attention, most common is having a pet with them, such a dog or even paired up dog with cat and rabbit, others just put up a written cardboard stating their situation.....with action such as kneeling or bending down in the middle of the streets. It is sad to see people beg, but at the same time, often wonder if some of them are really 'genuine'....

Crying Game

She usually stands right in the center of via Garibaldi, or under the arcade in via Po, in via Roma, in via Pietro Micca....
She cries out loud to the passers by, so they might offer her some money, initially she carried a big bag of used children books and video tapes to sell, then later she seems quit selling anything, in the photo however, seems like she is holding two lighters in her hands.

Once, saw her at via Garibaldi, wailing, approaching people passing by, then, she stopped, took out her cell phone, made a call and walked away chatting with someone on her phone.
I don't know, someone with a cell phone, doesn't really appear to be so desperate to beg on the street and she could switch off her wailing like closing a tap, just makes her display of desperation absurd.
She reminds me of someone who chatted online, claimed to be unfed for three days and yet miraculously has access to internet to chat and ask for money to be sent to him....

P.S : Saw her yesterday walking in piazza Carignaolo, eating an ice cream....

A van passed by via Po, sound of cows mooing, pigs squealing, sheep baaing and chickens screeching could be heard coming out from the van. Heads of these animals popped out from the side of the van, rocking, swaying.......written above them in red "Condemned Without Guilt".

CDP June Theme : Zest

This group of musicians always gather under the arcade at piazza San Carlo to play songs together, they play, they sing and sometimes others dance to their music, creating a fun and joyful atmosphere. Obviously, they enjoy doing it so much....

I think they are there everyday, I can only assume that since I am not there everyday to verify it, but each time I passed by the piazza, they were there.
