La Basilica Of San Giovanni Bosco

The Basilica of San Giovanni Bosco is on the Colle Don Bosco, at Morialdo, a small village of Castelnuovo Don Bosco, in the province of Asti and is included in the Archdiocese of Turin. Consecrated to St. John Bosco, it was erected between 1961 and 1966 on the site of the Cascina Billon - Damevino, birthplace of the saint.

The foundation stone was blessed the 11 June 1961 by the Archbishop of Turin Maurilio Fossati.

On 3 September 1988 the year of the first centenary of the death of Don Bosco, the church was visited by Pope John Paul II, who beatified occasion Laura Vicuña.The April 12, 2010 Pope Benedict XVI has elevated to the rank of minor basilica. The building was constructed in classical forms, interpreted according to contemporary models. The interiors are affected by the artistic trends of the time they were made.

The two floors of the basilica have a capacity of about 700 seats each. In the lower level dominating the marble, in the upper floor of wood.

The lower floor is the basement and therefore the crypt of the Basilica is a Latin cross with three naves separated by two sets of pillars. The aisles have a number of side altars. On the apse wall of the presbytery dominated by a picture of Mario Caffaro Rore, representing the autumn outings which Don Bosco made with his boys from Turin to the Becchi, the nearby village where he had the house of his childhood, still it preserved.

In the crypt of the basilica are famous relics of St. John Bosco (a portion of the brain) and Saint Dominic Savio (a bone). Don Bosco's relic is placed in a chapel behind the apse wall, that of Dominic Savio in an urn with the simulacrum of his body before the altar of the saint to the left looking at the presbytery.

The upper floor is dominated by a large dome, the façade there are two bell towers along with the dome and the grand staircase in front, marked the exterior of the basilica.

Remarkable, inside, the wooden statue of the Risen Christ on the apse, the pipe organ on the left looking at the 'altar, and fourteen wooden panels representing as many paintings of the Via Lucis. In front of the church there is a large open area designed to accommodate a large crowd of faithful during pilgrimages.

The Church Of Viu

Viù is a comune in the Metropolitan City of Turin in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 30 kilometres (19 mi) northwest of Turin.

We were on our way coming back to Turin from Aosta, decided to stop for a while in this little town in the mountain area.

The church is located at the edge of the town , high up on a small hill, over looking to the valley. Not really beautifully decorated , but somehow find its rugged appearance fascinating.

Parco Dora Ingest Area

The Ingest area of Parco Dora , with its 47,000 m², is the smallest lot Dora Park, and is at the further west; It develops longitudinally along Via Nole in the area bounded by Via Borgaro, immediately behind the residential complex at via Valdellatorre and the Church Chiesa del Santo Volto.

The design of this batch of the Park is characterized by a succession of areas with different functions and configurations: a arranged lawn, wooded areas, areas equipped for games, flower beds and a water garden with deep baths and running water channels. The latter is achieved by using large footings and foundation concrete structures of Fiat mills occupying the area before the transformation; also belonged to the old plant a row of pillars that support the walkway, along the area from west to east.

View Of Via Pietro Micca

Via Pietro Micca viewed from palazzo Madama, somehow it has a feel of a city in the older era....
Perhaps it is due to the tram's tracks....and the old buildings.

At the further end, the ugly skyscape that everyone hate is visible....unfortunately.

CDP January Theme : Photo Of The Year

2016 has ended, as for every year, CDP first theme of the new year is the photo of the year, I chose two photos which I like very much due to the subjects of the photo.

First it was a kitten which came out of a restaurant to greet me while I was doing some street photographing in Penang, Malaysia. After that I held him in my arm for a while to thank him for showing up.

The second was this dog which had a tag as an artist in the Paratissima Art exhibition in Turin, she too came over to me and allowed me to caress her, then she just went back to her seat and posed for me.
