The Environmental Photographer of the Year

The Palazzo del Rettorato, the headquarters of the University of Turin, is located in the historic center of the city and was designed in 1712 by Michelangelo Garove, the most successful architect on the square of Turin in the last decade of the seventeenth century. The Palace houses the headquarters of the institutional top management and political and administrative bodies of the University, the Historical Archive and some classrooms dedicated to teaching for humanistic schools; on the sides of the courtyard there are the spectacular stairways leading to the main floor, on which are divided rooms used by scientific schools, the library and the Aula Magna.

From 7 June to 31 August 2022 it is possible to visit in the Cortile del Rettorato (via Verdi 8, via Po 17) the exhibition "The environmental Photographer of the Year", set up on the occasion of the twenty-fifth edition of the CinemAmbiente Festival - the international film festival organized by National Cinema Museum with the aim of presenting the best environmental films and documentaries of the year. 

The exhibition, curated by UniVerso and CinemAmbiente, offers the public a selection of the winning shots of the various sections of the EPOTY Award - Environmental Photographer of the Year, the competition that presents the best photographs in the world dedicated to the theme of the environment, which is in its fifteenth edition this year. 

The exhibition is organized along a double path inside the Rectorate courtyard: The large sheets present a selection of ten of the most significant shots of the competition, which spectacularly offer guiding thought of the award. celebrate the human capacity to survive and innovate by inspiring more sustainable lifestyles. 

The thematic panels present seventeen images selected from the works of the Competition that express the urgency of the same number of objectives of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development. In fact, the Epoty Award supports the 17 goals of the United Nations by recognizing the complex nature of the connection between development, poverty reduction, equality, security and climate action with the unprecedented effort by all sectors of society necessary to address emergencies. of our age.
