Red Leaves

Red Leaves, always a delight to be seen in autumn. Is the farewell of the green of summer, a transistion to the white of winter.

Autumn Leaves 2012

The first sign of autumn is seeing the leaves turn yellow, turn red, these particular leaves always give me a sense that they are flying, waving in the wind.

Pond Of Autumn Leaves

Fall is here and has converted the landscape , fallen leaves gathered in a pond of water left by the rain the day before, together with the clear blue sky reflected on the surface of the water, created a typical scene of autumn.

Kalimera

Sad day, Kalimera our beloved dog, we have to let her go, to release her from the suffering. Two years ago, we were told perhaps she had half year more, but she made it lasted for two years. She was the sweetest, funniest, loving dog, she had given us more than we had provided her. May all good dogs like her go to heaven when their time comes.

Tower Of Duomo

With these color lights added onto the tower of the duomo of torino, it caught my eyes immediately, a n usually complementary object to the cathedral, just suddenly became an attraction itself.

Glass Eating House

Is more and more usual to see these glass houses (rooms? or whatever they call them) along the streets, just in front of the restaurants. I can imagine that it should very nice if outside is pouring heavily, sitting inside and eat, kind of awesome actually eating under the rain and not getting wet, but I am not so fond of having traffic passing by and car honking every minute while I am trying to enjoy my meal.

Porto Palazzo Outdoor Market

Porta Palazzo is a large area of the historic center of Turin, bordering the Center district and Aurora district.
In its center is the Republic Square which, with has an area of 51 300 m², is the largest square in the capital of Piedmont, and it regularly hosts the largest outdoor market in Europe.

The Place is colorful and full of life, vibrant and chaotic, but just have to be careful while being there. With its huge crowd on saturday (Especially during the morning), it is certainly a gathering place for pickpockets, which I personally unfortunately have been a two times victim. Two rules, never carry your bag on your back and never place your wallet in the outside pocket of your jacket. Maybe don't even wear any golden necklaces, diamond bracelet etc...Once saw an old man had his necklaces snapped in front of the crowd.

Christmas Lights Preparation

We are in October, and the Christmas lights decoration is already being prepared around the town. Last night, while walking home, saw that the workers were hanging up the 'big birds' along via Garibaldi. I actually like it when they light up the Christmas lights on the streets, but to light them up in October does seem a bit early, and is incoherent with the thinking of cost saving for the town.
Or maybe they will just hang them up and light them up only on Christmas? Well, maybe light up for the whole week of Christmas.
Anyway, hi there, 'big birds'!

Iphone 5

Does the crisis hit everyone?
It doesn't seem so, in Italy everyday in the news, they talk about how bad the economy is, how hard for people to make their ends meet. Yet, while passing by the newly opened Apple store (obviously not th one selling apples in the market), a long queue was formed outside to buy the new iphone 5.
Each time, they allowed only a certain number of people to get in and each time those managed to get in got a round of applause from the staffs standing at the entrance, so much to boost the ego.

The arrival of iphone 5, join the queue....

Well, I have to say, the crowd was much  lesser that what I have heard about in some asia countries....Maybe there is really a crisis in Italy.

Still, a queue to spend money for something not totally essential...Too bad I didn't manage to capture the satisfied and overjoyed faces of those who came out from the shop with their prize in hand.

I didn't stay long enough to see how long the queue was extended....

Maybe there is something I don't understand....

Student Demonstration on Friday

Yesterday, Friday, heard noises and music out from the window, looked out from the balcony, and there it was, the student demonstration was passing by right under my block.
The previous demonstration ended with a physical conflict between the students and the police forces, created quite a commotion. So, out of curiosity, I went down and followed the demonstration to snap some photos.

Stopped in front of the Academy of Fine Art.

The police forces followed behind getting ready just in case...

From the balcony.

Again, from the balcony.

Some green smoke...meaning?

Some orange smoke....not sure why? Maybe after all these years of getting  smokes from the politicians, here is the return favour.

Some white smoke, after taping the entrance of the Academy of whatever....

Something I did notice about demonstration in Italy, normally, they are held on Fridays, reason? After one or two hours of marching or standing or sitting, everyone gets a long weekend?

Today, another thing I noticed while walking among the demonstrators, I smelled 'Grass'.
I assume (positively) most of the demonstrators are underage, but i saw them smoking, and I did smell 'Grass', and there were policemen all over the place....Do they have the same sensitive nose like mine?
Or just...whatever.

Railway

Someone who lives next to the train station who has his balcony looking over the railways once told me that it is sad to see these railways everyday, because they have the significance of departure.
I told him, they also have the significance of arrival....

Balloon

Didn't realise there is a balloon in Torino for people to get up in the air to have a nice look at the town from high above. Just happened to see this balloon while walking toward the old part of the town and it looks pretty fun.

Atmospheric

This building is just beside my block, so I see it everyday, but under this redish, gloomy sky, it presents a different sensation, almost mysterious.
