Old Costumes

Saw these two elegantly dressed people in traditional costumes walking down via Roma, not sure what the event was.

The temperature was between 30°C and 34°C, I just couldn't understand why they were dressed so elegantly and parading down the street.

Massage Street

Fortunately, the weather was good on Saturday and the massage tents were able to continue their services.

I didn’t expect there were so many massage services in Turin…

Street Roller Skaters

On Saturday, not sure what the event was, but at one end of via Roma were rows of tents offering massages and various treatments. At the other end of via Roma was a lane for roller skaters.

Here some skaters were demostrating their skill of clearing obstacles.

Car Decoration

It was during the Christmas season, this 'well decorated' and 'lighted up' car was parked by the side of via Roma.

Not sure what was the deal, just think that it was a bit over done.

She Is Waiting

She wa standing there under the arcade looking somewhat pious and a bit solemn. Maybe it was her attire, maybe it was her posture, it was rather interesting to look at.

What was she waiting for? Perhaps, her turn to enter the pharmacy which was in front of her.

December Snow

In Turin snow seldom falls in december,  this year however it snowed in mid december. Not much, just one day, but enough to cover up the streets and the squares.

Just one day of snow, Turin changed its face.

Big Ball

20th November, 2022, the final of Nitto ATP Finals, this year Tennis fever will finally ended, but Turin will continue to host the event every year until 2025.

Will all these big balls come back next year to grace the piazzas and streets of Turin?

Flor Primavera 2021

The Flor Primavera is back after the government decided it is safe to hold such event along the street.

Turin is again transformed into a big garden with stands displaying plants, flowers and anything related to gardening and even those not directly related, such as bags, hats and umbrellas.

There were fewer stands than the previous years, partly due to the safe distancing and also many spaces were occupied by tables of restaurants and bars for outdoor dining.

Nevertheless, it was still a joy to see such beautiful display of colorful flowers and plants.

Hidden Singer

This corner at the beginning of via Roma seems to be a favourite spot for street artists. Often the artist placed himself right at the corner and got attention from people coming from and into via Roma.

From this side under the arcade, it looks as if the artist is hidden from the people crossing via Roma and ready to give a surprise once they get into the arcade.

Aftermath

Monday the new Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers came into effect, no dining in all bars and restaurants after 1800 hours, gym, cinema and theatres are to be closed.

This causes many discontents among the shop and restaurants owners, 2 protests were organised on Monday evening.

One protest was held in piazza Vittorio, it was a peaceful and respectful protest attended by many business owners who are painfully affected by the restriction.

The other one was held in piazza Castello, organised anonymously and among the protestants, there were some group of thugs who took the chance to create chaos and to rob.

Shortly after the beginning of the protest, bottles and paper bombs were thrown at the police in the piazza, provoked a confrontation between the police force and the protestants.

Then the groups were spreaded into the nearby streets and piazza, creating damages along the way. Breaking windows and doors of the shops and robbing the goods.

This is the aftermath of the night of that protest.
