I was photographing this well decorated window at via Palazzo di Città and something behind the glass of the window caught my eyes. A cat was looking down to the street, most likely hewas left alone at home while the family was away celebrating Christmas.....

Male Fire Performers
Fire performers....can be interesting, affascinating in how they manipulate fire, handling the flames in their hands with ease, but the smell of kerosene spreaded around the place is quite unbearable and wonder if it can be harmful to health.....
This guy was performing in piazza Castello, and charmed a huge group of spectators.

Beauty And The Beast
Standing in front of the more than 500 years old Turin Cathedral is a red brick office building, the "Palazzaccio " .
The block of concret and metal building fully in contrast with the holy and elegant Cathedral, that is why it is often cosidered as a sore in the eyes for the locals.

Street Christmas Lights Up
I think this is the first year, lights are setup along via Mercanti , via San Tommaso and Via Barbaroux.
Although the lights are pretty simple, but they did bring up the spirit of the Christmas season and is pretty great looking, very suitable for these small streets right in the center of the town.

Firemen Fun
Firemen fun day! Kids were allowed to put on their firemen's hat and cleared obstacles with the help of the real firemen in Piazza Castello.
Still not sure why is this event held in winter, but it is sure fun to watch as the tiny firemen proudly went through the obstacles....

Yellow River Po
Week of rain had turned the river po into yellowish, overflown the banks and flooded the Murazzi. From over the other side of Murazzi, as though the yellow river of China had reached Torino, the Murazzi was half immerged in water and the yellowish river was jusy kept rushing through....
Luckily enough, it is over now and the lost boat ' Valentina' was also found.

Houses By The River
These houses near to the river Po, from this view seem to be in some places far from the town center, but they are actually just located a short distance from the center and the other side of the houses is a busy main road .

Rescuse Mission Valentini
The days of raining rasied the level of the river Po, the Murazzi along the river bank is basically immersed in water, running current brought down all kind of things on its way, including the two Valentini.
The Valentino and Valentina were the two boats which carried tourists for a tour on the the river along the Valentino Park, it was one of the tourist's favourite activity.
This morning, tragic happened, the two Valentini broke free of their chains and run away following the current.
They were blocked by the Vittorio Emanuele I bridge, and stucked under the arch of the bridge.
Emergency rescuse was activated. 2 big cranes were setup to secure the two boats and to pull them to safety.
Unfortunately when Valentino was pulled to safety, Valentina slipped, hit herself on the bottom side of the bridge and overturned, then she was brought away by the merciless river, separated with Valentino forever.....
Once they were happy togther..... making people happy....

La Mole In The Mist Of Rain
It has been raining the whole week, and the Po has overflown, Torino is wet!
In the evening, the atmosphere is misty and foggy, the top side of La Mole is covered by a layer of fog, making it looks rather mysterious....

Trans Freedom March 2016
Last Saturday was the " Trans Freedom March " in Turin, it started at piazza Vittorio and ended in Piazza Carignano.
It was the third annual march to remember the victims of transphobia and hatres against these people, a march to raise the awareness of the rights to exist for them.
Happy to see that there was more participants this years than the previous two marches, even the new Mayor was there joining the march.

More Paratissima 12
Some more of the exhibited arts at the Paratissima 12.
We were fortunate to arrive early on that Saturday where there were very little queue and more space to move around, looking at the displayed pieces were easier and more comfortable.
By 3 pm, the crowd was starting to appear, by then, people watching was added as part of the fun.

Art Exhibition Paratissima 12
Paratissima is a project created in Turin (Italy), its aim is to foster
and support emerging artists and creative talents, giving them the
opportunity to join an international network where they have a chance to
promote themselves, to sell their works, to meet other artists and
creative workers and to improve their skills and knowledge.
Paratissima was born in Turin (Italy) in 2005, with the aim of hosting
and promoting artists and creative workers in a context dethatched from
the institutional and elite art scene, giving to emerging talents an
opportunity to surface and grow. In few years it has become one of the
most important events in the national art scene.
This year the Paratissima was held again in Torino Esposizioni, many paintings, sculptures and photos exhibited, somehow, the craziness and weirdness of the displayed arts were toned down and an entry fee of 3 euro was imposted.
Regardless of the changes, it is still an EVENT that we won't want to miss every year. Just hope that it won't try to go too mainstream which will lose it uniquity and fun.
