Morning People

Morning under the arcade in piazza San Carlo, people start to have their breakfast at the bar before heading to work or whatever business they have to deal with early in the morning.

Al Bicerin

Bicerin is a traditional hot drink native to Turin, Italy, made of espresso, drinking chocolate, and milk served layered in a small glass.

The word bicerin is Piedmontese for "small glass" and is the equivalent of Italian bicchierino (diminutive of bicchiere, or “glass").
This coffee beverage has existed since the 18th century and was praised by Alexandre Dumas in 1852. It is believed to be based on the 17th century drink bavarèisa ("Bavarian"): the key distinction is that in a bicerin the three components are carefully layered in the glass rather than being mixed together.

Everywhere in Torino, you can find bars and caffè offering Bicerin, but the best place to try this drink is at the more than 200 years old Caffè Al Bicerin .
Caffè al Bicerin, sits across from the Santuario della Consolata, a historic coffeehouse in Torino’s piazza della Consolata, has been serving the drink since the 18th century.

Caffe Torino

Caffe Torino is a historic caffe bar/restaurant in Turin. It has been opened since 1903, in piazza San Carlo and is easily recognised by the big 'Martini' neon sign under the arcade and the bronze bas relief of a bull just outside of its entrance in the middle of the walk way.

There are many bars ( Coffee houses ) in Torino, many are pretty antique and considered historical properties which means they have to remain how they are, no matter change of owners. 

In general, I prefer to go to those less decorated and less high class bars, they are more friendly and more relaxing.

Breakfast Spot

One of our favourite spot for breakfast on Sunday morning, bar Bazaar at the corner of via degli Stampatori and via Santa Maria. Is a nice place to sit outside sipping a cup of cappuccino and a bite of brioche, enjoy the morning sun or the morning breeze whatever the weather permits.
