Torino Pride 2024 Pt 3

Pride parade is an annual event. It is also an event for people to see and to be seen.

Confusing Weather

This pretty much sums up the weather in Turin these days.

The sun was shining brightly on one end of Piazza San Carlo, but at the other end, huge clouds were rushing in which then brought in the rain.

Men Dressed Up

Not sure what was happening, we were walking under the arcade along via Po, two figures with mini skirts walked past us.

When I took a look, I realised that they were actually two men.

Since they were just causally chatting with each other, not disturbing anyone, thus, no one actually made a fuss about their appearance. 

The most, some people gave them a glance with slight surprise.

Come to think about it, in Torino, people are seldom get offended by 'out' of norm appearance or behaviour.

He was wearing a bit thin for the season by the way.

Morning People

Morning under the arcade in piazza San Carlo, people start to have their breakfast at the bar before heading to work or whatever business they have to deal with early in the morning.

As the weather gets warmer and the temperature rises, the shirts of the girls get shorter.  Seems it is the law of the universe.

Lock Down The Twenty-Fifth Day

The 25th day, Friday,sunny day. many people might be queuing up at the supermarket today-
(Again) Standing by the balcony, the air was a bit chilly, but the spring sun was warm. It was a beautiful weather.

Looking down the street, there were perhaps 8, 9 people walking around and maybe 3,4 cars passed by.

Yesterday while on the way home from the pharmacy, saw an elderly couple walking. They both looked fit, the man was very tall and lean. Used to see them around and they almost always in sport attires, sometimes with hand bands or even a tennis racket in hand. Probably they love sport and keeping themselves fit.

Beside me, there were only them on the street at that time, the man was wearing a bright red outfit, which was particularly prominent in the deserted street.

Lock Down Fourth Day

A message received visually in the afternoon on the street : Whatever the game, let the joy win.

Morning at about 1030 am, looked down from the balcony to the street below. Few people, a man was waiting at the bus stop on the right side; the bus stop on the left, two women were sending messages with their cellphone, both were standing, at a distance apart.
Ocassionally, one or two cars passed by unhurriedly.

Went down to the other apartment around the corner to have some works done. The street was rather quiet, nobody was waiting at the traffic light by the street. Just the four traffic lights standing there facing each other.

On the pedestrain street, restaurants and shops on both sides were closed. A woman was playing ball with a little boy and a woman with mask passed swiftly with her head down. 

The janitor was not working, she will be off till god knows when....
From the windows of the apartment, 2 - 3 people can be seen queuing up orderly outside of the entrance of the supermarket, waiting for their turns. Each maintined a distance of approximately one meter between them.
A distance away, a woman was taking a selfie with her cellphone, with her gloves and mask on.

Near evening, got to buy something at another supermarket, but there was a long queue at the entrance. Not worth to queue up for an hour just for an item.
There was another branch of the same supermarket just further down on the other street, so went there to try my luck.
No one was queuing up at the entrance, no one was inside the supermarket, just a chinese girl at the cashier and a guy working inside the store.

The cheerful chinese girl informed us politely that we couldn't go in together or we could if we kept at least a distance of a meter between us all the time. She worried that there might be policemen checking on them. No problem, we are not siamese twin. She was content.

So, the two supermarkets of the same company, just few distance apart, one was with long queue waiting at the entrance and the other one with nobody.

Lock Down Second Day

Lock down 2nd day

Yesterday had to go to the pharmacy to collect the medicines, so I went.

Along via XX Settembre, the usual row of shops were mostly closed, not many people on the street.
There are only two Africans waiting at the usually crowded bus stop, behind them the 'All You Can Eat' Chinese-Japanese restaurant was closed. Further down the tobacconist's shop was closed with a notice stating that due to both the owners are in isolation.
The Indian provision shops were opened.

Entered the pharmacy, was told to stay further away from the customer at the counter or just wait outside the door. 

On the way back home, walked through piazza Castello, a father was playing football with his little son in the piazza, a mother was walking a toodler , a lone photograher was taking photo of the closed door of the Royal Palace. Some people rode across the piazza on their bicycles and some just walked across. Speaking the truth, the piazza at this hour, is pretty normal to have fewer people around.
There were some policemen on duly in the piazza and they were the only one gathered in more than 3 persons in a group.

The tourist Information Center was closed. Most bars were still opened but tomorrow they will be closed.

Animal Instinct

Some ladies show off their wild side by dressing up and walking around in the center of the Turin.

These costumes can be found in some chinese shops here, most probably they are now  temporary closed due to the outbreak.

Is Autumn - Grandpa And Grand child

The Autumn is getting colder, but the sight of a grandpa holding the hand of his grand child taking a walk along the river just makes it feel so much warmer.....

The Child even waved and gave me a 'ciao' as I walked past....

At the entrance of Palazzo Carignano, a woman sat between the huge pillars to make a phone call.....

In Motion

With the increase of tourists visiting Torino, and NYTimes recent listed Torino as one of the recommended place to visit in 2016, I can presume that the city will be even more in motion in 2016. Expect moving crowd, human traffic in every main streets in the center.

Candid Shots Across The Street

Most of the time, I bring my camera along whenever I go out, just in case something interesting might catch my eyes.
Across the street where I live is church San Tommaso, when there is a mass or any event, people will be going in and out, sometimes, in a good light, the images presented are just irresistible not to be photographed.

A couple just came out of the church and was standing there deciding what to do.....
