After 3 months of closing, due to the Covid-19, the museum Accorsi Ometto has finally re-opened. In its splendid courtyard there is an exhibition of sculptures that pays homage to six great artists of the twentieth century, including the major international interpreters of post-war sculpture.
On display are the monumental Mercury (1980s) by Arman, one of the greatest exponents of the nouveau réalisme; the patinated bronzes Vertical tension (1963-64) and Sole deposto (1982) by Gio 'Pomodoro; the large terracotta Cavalcata interrotta (1990) by Paolo Borghi which well represents his poetics of reinterpretation of classical art and investigation of myth;
the majestic brushed steel Asteroide (2017) by Riccardo Cordero in which the abstract plastic form, a carefully designed structure, is placed in dialogue with the surrounding space, of which the work activates its physical reality;
the two large bronzes by Igor Mitoraj, Icaro alato (2000) and Luci di Nara petrificata (2014), which testify to the postmodern vision of the artist who, through the fractures present on the figure, alluding to the fragment and the ancient find, remind us of the situation of contemporary man with his fractures and his loss of identity; finally,
by Ivan Theimer, Tobiolo (1999), Tartaruga con Montagna (2004), Medusa (2005) and Arione con delfino (2008), four bronze works of different dimensions linked together by a single denominator: a solid classical structure that it echoes the myths represented by Greek sculpture, the Egyptian symbolism of the great Obelisks up to the Tuscan mannerism, where the human figure and the animal world play with each other in plastic symbiosis, to remind us that we are all part of a unicum.
It was delightful to be able to finally visit again the museum with this fantastic exhibition.
