Contemporary Crosses

Not sure why are these crosses in the cathedral San Giovanni, placed at one side of the church, like a display art or sort....

At the same time when we were visiting the cathedral and looking at these crosses, outside the church a chinese girl with a certain pass hanging on her neck was having sort of a stomach ache. She looked pretty in pain, but declined any help from us, so we just left her there, as she claimed that someone was on the way to come and pick her up.

Was she the person incharge of those displayed crosses?

Wake Up In Spring

Spring is here, but at the moment when this photo was taken, the cold of Winter was still lingering around.

It was not a great moment to stay out for too long, but this man took a nap in the garden Aiuola Balbo, perhaps he had decided to sleep through the transition from Winter to Spring.

Above And Below

In this little piazza, Piazzale Aldo Moro, I think it was originally a car park, then they recontructed the whole area, it took a really long time and turned it into university compound with restaurants and shops.

During the contruction work, it was found that underneath the surface were hidden fragments of history, the remains of the foundations of the barracks of the cavalry of Carlo Emanuele I, and a large portion of one of the seventeenth century walls built to defend the city.

Inside this 'big hole' overlooking the city's landmark 'La Mole', the portion of the old wall is visible.

Smallest Piazza

The world smallest piazza can be found in Turin, located in via carlo Alberto, attached to the church of Madonna Of The Angels.

In 1901 Carlo Ceppi modernized the façade of the Madonna degli Angeli church and the square of the same name in front, but at the end of the works he realized that on the side of the church there was a small patch of land owned by the town.

Carlo Ceppi resolved the problem by creating a small square dedicating it to the Blessed Virgin of the Angels, practically an appendix to the Madonna degli Angeli square, thus involuntarily creating the most worldly square and a curiosity for Turin.

Games And Study

There were two protests at piazza Castello the other day.

One was some students against the closing of schools due to the Covid spreading among students and then brought the virus back to their parents and grandparents.

These protesting students are so eager to get back to school to study, they neglect the fact that students like to gather together in school and after school, thus increasing the risk of spreading the still on going Covid.

The fact that they were studying in the piazza just demostrated that they don't have to get back to school to study, they can study anywhere, thus at home if they really want to study.

The other bigger protest was the group dressed mainly in yellow.

Those are the workers from gaming sector, such as the bingo, betting centers etc.

They were there to protest against the closing of the entertainment centers which causes them of losing incomes.

So, here we have a group protesting the right to study and other group protesting the right to play ...

Saxophonist

A talented saxophonist performing on the street at via Carlo Alberto, enriching the day of the pedestrians passing by with beautiful music.

That was before the town fell back to the 'red' zone.

Now he won't be able to perform on the street or anywhere, since theaters, bars and restaurants are all closed until we get back to at least the 'orange' zone.

Group Gathering

This photo was taken when Turin was still consisted in 'Orange' zone, which means all bars and restaurants were opened only for take away till the 22 hours for restuarants and till the 18 hours for the bars.

This was of course to discourage gathering without consideration of safety distance.

However, that evening during a walk, passing by piazza IV Marzo which is near to the town hall, this was what we saw.

Groups of people gathered in the small garden drinking, eating and chatting, obviously were enjoying themselves without putting on masks.

And it happened almost every evening.

Now, with the increases of infected cases, Turin is considered in the 'Red' zone with tightened restrictions.

This is one of the photo taken during a walk when the region was in Yellow.

Next week, the umbrellas of the restaurants outside in the piazza will all be closed, most shops will be closed or only allow limited people to enter each time....

Spring Begins On The Hill

Valentino park is one of the best place in the center to observe the change of season.
And this year, the Spring begins when I passed by the small hill in the park.

When I see the tiny new leaves begin to appear on the bald branches....

CDP March 2021 Theme : Mirror

Near my block there is a luxury shop selling expensive porcelain and glasswares, which we just look and never dare even to step in.

It has some round mirrors placed on the bottem side of it windows and they reflect the view of the buildings on the other side of the road.
