Squirrels At Valentino Park

Finally found some times to take a walk in the Valentino park to visit the squirrels, they are very used to have people bringing them nuts, so whenever you put out your hand, they will come over and sniff to check if there are nuts.

Medieval Village

The Borgo Medioevale in Turin, is an open air museum and reconstructed medieval village and castle. It is located in the Parco del Valentino (Valentino Park) on the riverbank of the Po river. It was built for the 1884 Italian general exposition and it was constructed by replicating and mimicking late-medieval architecture of the Piedmont region.

The reconstructed architecture, decorations, and landscaping followed strict criteria of faithfulness to historical models. Over 40 sites (including castles, villages, and churches) all across Piedmont and Aosta Valley were used as models and many intellectuals, historians, artists and technicians took part in the project. Among the structures that served as models are Fénis Castle, Issogne Castle, Verrès Castle, and Ivrea Castle

Spring Begins On The Hill

Valentino park is one of the best place in the center to observe the change of season.
And this year, the Spring begins when I passed by the small hill in the park.

When I see the tiny new leaves begin to appear on the bald branches....

Evening By The Borgo Medievale

Take a walk on the opposite of the river Po, toward Moncalieri, on the other side of the river there is the Valentino park with the Valentino Castle and the Borgo Medievale ( Medieval Village ).

The Borgo Medievale was opened in 1884 during the Italian General Exhibition. It offers a reconstruction of late medieval buildings and decorations carried out on the basis of strict philological criteria.

The inspiration of the Medieval Village came from over 40 sites and retraced the artistic and architectural features of 15th century buildings throughout Piedmont and Aosta Valley.

The village includes streets, squares, fountians, fortifications, decoration and frescoes, real houses and artisan workshops.

The Rocca or fortress is a fortified aristocratic residence whose rooms are richly decorated with furnitures, accessaries and fabrics that reflect the lifestyle of the nobility in the 15th century Piedmont.

The 12 Months Fontain In Winter

The 12 the months fountain (Fontana Dei Dodici Mesi) is located in Valentino park.
The oval tub was designed in Valentino park by Carlo Ceppi at the National Exhibition of 1898 for the fiftieth anniversary of the Albertine Statute. The balustrade from which descends a foaming waterfall is decorated with statues of the Months and Rivers of Turin (Po, Stura, Dora and Sangone), the work of several sculptors including Edoardo Rubino, Louis Contracts, Joseph Cerini, Cesare Biscarra, Vittorio Bonino and Giacomo Cometti.

Squirrel In Park

Winter must be difficult for the squirrels. While I was walking in Valentino park, this squirrel came running to me, stopped just a few steps in front of me and stayed there looking at me, with a look in his eyes as though was asking if I had any food for him....Unfortunately I didn't have anything for him, I don't bring nuts, or breads or fruit in my camera bag....maybe I should keep some in the bag next time I plan to visit the park.
