Water Lilies Pond In Royal Garden

 This Year, water lilies are added into the fountain at the Royal Garden...

 

 

These newly added water lilies add extra elegance and color to the otherwise dull water surface.

 

 

 Let's see how well will they grow.

Hot Dog

This dog perfectly illustrates what's happening in Turin. As the temperatures get hotter, even dogs would rather stay under the fountain than run around playing catch.

This dog refused to move  away from the water, he just wanted to cool off.

Last Day Of School

Apparently Friday was the last day of school before spring(?) break.

Here, the boys and girls were celebrating at piazza Castello, getting themselves wet.

I don't know when this tradition started...

Fountain In Autumn

The view of the fountain (( Finally re-activated after summer ) in autumn at the Royal Garden.

It is always a very pleasant view.

Frozen Day

The temperature is pretty low in these few days, varies from -2 to 2. Over the night, with the freezing temperature and fallen snow, water around the fountain in the Royal garden has frozen, leaving quite an impressive view to look at.

Fountain of Nereid and the Tritons

The Royal gardens which is partially re-opened after a long overdue renovation sometime ago, has finally finished restored one of its main attraction: The fountian of Nereid and the Tritons

 

 

It looks particularly good with La Mole in the background.

At the center of the enclosed part of the gardens is a white narble basin with the Fountain of Nereid and the Tritons in the center, it is more often known as the 'Tritons Fountain'

It is a work depicting mythological figures: a Nereid (sea nymph) surrounded by Tritons (the children of the god Poseidon. In turn, the basin is surrounded by twelve statuettes of half human and half aquatic beings. The work was conceived. by the court sculptor Simone Martinez (1689-1768) in 1765-1768.

Heat Days

The last couple of days were hot, reaching 35°C at certain time of the day.

As per every year during the hot days, people rely on the fountains at piazza Castello to cool off themselves.

Big Watering Can

A huge watering Can in the Borgo San Paolo, on the side of   the street via Dante Di Nanni in front of the Parish San Bernardino.

Via Dante Di Nanni, is considered a symbol of the area, it is 1 km long starting from the Parish.

Pond In Piazza Castello

Rain plus the water spreaded from the fountain has formed a rather sizeable pond almost right in the center of piazza Castello, reflecting the surrounding around the piazza....

Quench For Thirst

Hot, hot, hot, with the temperature reaching up to 35 °C, walking around the town can be dehydrating, fortunately there are quite a number of fountains all over the town and the water is highly drinkable.

A long queue in front of the fountain at piazza Vittorio for the fresh, cooling water comes from the Alps.

Summer Fountain Fun

Summer, fun by the fountain at piazza Castello, an very much enjoyable activity preferred by the children who stay in town.

Reflection Of The Fountain

The extended pool of water from the fountain at piazza Castello provided a great ispiration for making photo, with the royal palace as the backdrop, the reflection is pretty amazing. 

The passing of the people in front of the lens makes it even more interesting.

Color Fountains

After the renovation, the fountains at piazza Castello have put on some fancy, colorful dresses.

Color lights are added to give the fountains a more vibrant chram, also the changing color and the random speed  and height of the water jet create a more lively and magical atmosphere.

Fountain Of Youth

In hot summer, the fountains at piazza Castello become chilling points for the kids, playing under the water of the fountains is definitely a fun and cool activity.

Dog Day Afternoon

These few days, it is so hot in Turin, in certain hours of the day, the streets are almost deserted, people prefer to stay in door or under shelter , to hide from the sun.

In Cavour garden, a pair of golden retrievers couldn't resist to jump into the pool with the fountain to cool themselves.

To Drink Or Not To Drink

Turin has many fountains, this is one of my favorite which is located at the entrance to the La Marmora garden. It has water flowing out from the mouth of a face into the stone basin.

These pigeons love to shower and drink from the fountain, at this moment however they seem to hesitate whether or not to drink from the fountain....

Is getting hotter! 35°C yesterday at 1800 hours, wish I could do the same like this boy, put on my swimming trunk and get cool by the fountain at piazza Castello....

The 12 Months Fontain In Winter

The 12 the months fountain (Fontana Dei Dodici Mesi) is located in Valentino park.
The oval tub was designed in Valentino park by Carlo Ceppi at the National Exhibition of 1898 for the fiftieth anniversary of the Albertine Statute. The balustrade from which descends a foaming waterfall is decorated with statues of the Months and Rivers of Turin (Po, Stura, Dora and Sangone), the work of several sculptors including Edoardo Rubino, Louis Contracts, Joseph Cerini, Cesare Biscarra, Vittorio Bonino and Giacomo Cometti.
