Gran Madre Church Interior

The Gran Madre Church is located at the other side across the bridge at the end of via Po, it is quite a prominent structure with it's huge stairs leading up to the magnificent entrance to main building of the church. The stairs were even once used as a set for the movie ' The Italian Job' back in 1969.

 

Surprisely, the interior of the church is rather small and simple, compared to other churches in the city.

Full Moon Over The Po

Just happened to see a really low full moon slowly appeared ( seemed ) behind the Gran Madre Church over the other side of the river Po. By the time I walked further up, the moon appeared to be higher and further away from the church.
Was wondering whether to snap a few photos, but too lazy to set up the tripod again...so I rested the camera on the low wall above Murazzi where the actual river bank is and snapped 3, 4 photos using timer.

This is the result after merging the photos with photoshop.

The Little Blue Church reflected On Po

The end of the old year and the beginning of the new year is the season of lights in Turin, lights on the bridges, lights on the streets, lights decorating the churches and lights reflected on the river.

The lights don't make the winter warmer but at least they are pretty to look at....

My City Skyline

The skyline view was taken from the tower of palazzo Madama at piazza Castello, my very first time visited the place and it was wonderful.....

Beisde the beautiful and rich collection it kept and displayed, up at the tower it provides a spectacular view of the center of the city. This is the view along via Po, towards the Gran Madre church across the Emmanuele Vittorio bridge.

This view is from the top of La Mole, which allow visitors to overlook the city around La Mole and the Alps....on a good weather day, it is just breathtaking.

Cloudy Over the Po

Early Spring, the weather is indecisive, while one day it is all sunny and clear, the next day huge black clouds would cover up the whole sky ( Or partially ).

The Vittorio Emanuele I bridge leading to the Gran Madre church under the heavy clouds....

The Other View Of Gran Madre

View of Gran Madre Church from behind....it doesn't really look like a church from this view.
Despite being named Gran Madre, the inside of the church is quite small....

Crossing Via Po

Via Po can be quite heavy in traffic, the end of it where piazza Castello is, the traffic light crossing is a safe way to cross over from one side to the other.

 Love the view looking at the Gran Madre church at the other end....

Sunday Market At Gran madre

Every third Sunday of the month, a special market is held  at the streets around the Gran Madre church, selling mostly antiques and crafts.

Finally some snow also in Torino center. A night of snowing transformed the city into white.....

At the end of bridge Vittorio Emmanuelle I, stands the church of Gran Madre topped with snows, far top right, church of Santa Maria Al Monte faintly visible.....

A Series Of Street Lights

A series of street lights at piazza Vittorio leading towards Gran Madre church....
