Men Walk

Take a break from posting raining day photos. 

 Since yesterday was Women's Day, I dug up these older photos.....

These photos were taken in last November, a group of men marched across the Town Hall Square and headed towards piazza Castello. All were wearing suits and red shoes, each carrying a board in hand.

It was to protest violence against women.

Liberation Day 2023

25 April, Liberation day of Italy, Liberation Day, also known as the Anniversary of Italy's Liberation (Anniversario della Liberazione d'Italia), Anniversary of the Resistance (Anniversario della Resistenza), or simply 25 April (25 aprile) is a national holiday in Italy that commemorates the victory of the Italian resistance movement against Nazi Germany and the Italian Social Republic, puppet state of the Nazis and rump state of the fascists, in the Italian Civil War, a civil war fought in Italy during World War II.

Public events in memory of the event, like marches and parades, have been organized annually in all Italian cities.

The march was held yesterday evening and it passed by via Pietro Micca, which is under my apartment block.

Pride 2018

Another day for Pride Torino, on the 16 of June, 120 thousands people marched with pride and joy from piazza Statuto until piazza Vittorio to celebrate the rights and equality for the GLBT community and not only.

Having a new government with ministers who openly display homophobia and racism opinions, it is even more important for such an event to let people show their stand against the hatred and discrimination of those in power.

 

 

Joining the Torino Pride were 30 or so chinese parents and their gay children who came all the way from china to participate in the march.

Liberation Day

Italy's Liberation Day (Festa della Liberazione), also known as the Anniversary of the Liberation (Anniversario della liberazione d'Italia), Anniversary of the Resistance (anniversario della Resistenza), or simply April 25 is a national Italian holiday commemorating the end of the Italian Civil War and the end of Nazi occupation of the country during World War II.

In the evening, the Liberation Day parade marched along via Pietro Micca toward piazza Castello with people holding a torch in their hand. In particular, this old couple caught my attention. 

Also these cardboard pigeons are kind of cute.

Snow In March

Saturday out of sudden, the snow came down in March, not much of it but still quite bizarre. 

Then by noon, practically there was no more trace of snow on the road, but the temperature was lowered significantly.

Snow in March, was it related to the climate changes?

Candle lights Walk Of The Liberation Day's Eve

25th of April, Italy's Liberation Day, also known as the Anniversary of the Liberation, Anniversary of the Resistance, or simply April 25 is a national Italian holiday commemorating the end of the second world war and the end of Nazi occupation of the country.

On the 24th evening, a parade for the celebration passed along via Pietro Micca, just under my block.

Nothing fancy, just a solemn, sincere walk with candle lights for this memorable day.

There was also the presence of policemen, of course.

Mid March's Snow

I thought spring is near and then it started to snow this morning......winter just doesn't want to go away.
