Guarding The Royal Garden

There is this little container hut a few distance from the entrance to the Royal garden, in it there is the guard.

I don't know what the guard does inside there, but it feels cool to be in it, in the garden.

Picasso Rendez-Vous At Turin

The exhibition is hosted in the splendid eighteenth-century halls of Palazzo Saluzzo Paesana, in the heart of the city of Turin.

And this is the first time I have stepped into this magnificent palazzo.

The exhibition lives on two moments: in the theater on the ground floor it opens with 50 imaginary letters and 50 photos. Through the writings, elaborated by the French writer David Lawrence, the viewer is accompanied into Picasso's experience. The intention of this first part is to make the relationship with the artist more intimate to better understand his creative path.

After crossing the splendid eighteenth-century courtyard of Palazzo Saluzzo Paesana, on the main floor where the Belgian Jean Cristophe Hubert curated the exhibition of around 300 works, creating a painting overview of Picasso's vast production. Drawings, ceramics, sculptures, engravings and graphics made with every type of technique and coming from private collections, they give a complete vision - and to most unknown – of the talent and never-satiated creative hunger of the Spanish artist.

Arte Alle Corti - Pietro Weber

Arte alle Corti returns in an extraordinary edition with a route that winds through 14 of the most representative buildings in the city. An en plein air journey in which the installations of 40 artists who, with their contemporary works of art, create an unexpected and surprising comparison with the architecture that hosts them, in a mapping from the Baroque to the twentieth century.

Iconic buildings, imposing architecture and works by artists with different languages and poetics, in a creative dialogue that aims to help people discover Turin and underline its close historical relationship with contemporary art.

There are 3 installations in the Royal garden, one which is the work of artist Pietro Weber.

Arte Alle Corti - Analgesia

An exhibition path of installations and sculptures of contemporary art, in the courts of the great historical palaces.

The exhibition of art in various courtyards in the city is back. After years of absence, probabely due to a mayor who was not so knee into art and culture, finally after the change of mayor, the exhibition is back.

The project includes 55 outdoor artistic works in 13 courtyards and 3 gardens, and an exhibition of artistic works on the main floor of Palazzo Birago di Borgaro. Widespread exhibition, dynamic art that develops outdoors, through 13 courtyards and 3 gardens of courtly and institutional Turin. Courts like galleries, like stages, like places of art, capable of getting involved and welcoming and communicating with artistic works. Art at the Courts is to be experienced as a walk en plein air, moving on foot and with a map in hand, along an ideal fil rouge that connects different points of the city center, through the courtly architecture. It is a way to get to know and take possession of an often unknown territory, albeit everyday and familiar, made obvious by the habit and inability to really look around. The project, in fact, is aimed first of all at the citizens themselves, as well as at tourists: a public invited to enter these wonderful treasure chests, transformed into open scenes thanks to art.

Arte alle corti is not only an international event of contemporary art, but can also be considered a tool with which to generate positive economic impacts through the expenditure that the public, citizens and tourists, will activate in the area along the urban art route. It is an event that can therefore generate socio-cultural, but also economic, impacts.

In the Royal Courtyard, is the work of Paolo Grassino, Analgesia.

View From The Inside Of The Royal Garden

The other side of the Royal garden is re-opened again, and it seems that there are some changes made. The plantation is tidied up, new paths are cleared up, leaving the view of La Mole more visible behind the Rai auditorium.

A view that we have not noticed before....

Men Dressed Up

Not sure what was happening, we were walking under the arcade along via Po, two figures with mini skirts walked past us.

When I took a look, I realised that they were actually two men.

Since they were just causally chatting with each other, not disturbing anyone, thus, no one actually made a fuss about their appearance.

The most, some people gave them a glance with slight surprise.

Come to think about it, in Torino, people are seldom get offended by 'out' of norm appearance or behaviour.

Raining Dogs And Cats

Finally the rain arrived, after one night and one day of raining dogs and cats, the temperature reduced from 38 °C to maximum of 19 °C and a minimum of 13 °C.

From the photos, it doesn't seem to be raining heavily, but during the night it was rather violent and throughout the day, it switched between drizzling and pouring.

Dog Days

It is so hot, the temperature reaches 38 °C at 1700 hours and feels like 40 °C.

Prediction is that by Saturday the temperature will decrease when the rain comes in.

Let's hope it is true.

Meanwhile, people are starting to strip off on the streets to fight off the heat.

Lunch At Pian della Mussa

During the 4 days short vacation at Ceres, we drove up to Pian Della Mussa to have lunch.

Pian della Mussa is a locality located at 1,850 m at the end of the Val d'Ala in the Lanzo valleys. It is a vast plateau more than 2 km long formed by the filling of a glacial lake. Located in the province of Turin, in the municipality of Balme, the Stura di Lanzo river is born here, a left tributary of the Po.

The homonymous aqueduct begins from Pian della Mussa which, at least in the past, was the largest aqueduct serving the city of Turin. The springs were purchased in 1896 when Felice Rignon was mayor of Turin. The construction works, which also included the construction of the driveway from Balme, began about a decade later, due to the numerous disputes that arose with the inhabitants of the valleys regarding ownership and rights over the water. After the suspension during the war, the aqueduct reached Turin and was inaugurated on 24 June 1922. The water from the Pian della Mussa springs has been part of the supplies of the International Space Station since 2008. There is a complex of sacred works and commemorative plaques on the plateau, including the 'Madonna del Bersagliere' commissioned by Biagio Augusto Zaffiri and the work of the sculptor Ruffini of Cremona. There is also the Città di Cirié Refuge and other summer camp houses, as well as numerous restaurants where you can taste the typical products of the valleys. The asphalted access road is closed to traffic during the winter.

Ceres Train Station

Ceres station is the terminus railway station of the Turin-Ceres railway. It serves the municipality of Ceres and the adjacent municipality of Cantoira.

Built like all the stations of the mountain section of the railway according to the project of Eng. Alberto Scotti in 1915, is a three-storey masonry and reinforced concrete building with a wooden pitched roof and cover, rebuilt in the early 2000s in Lose.

Similarly to other stations of the line, on the ground floor of the station, built in Art Nouveau style following the model of the "Swiss chalet", there is a large entrance with ticket office, waiting rooms for the first (equipped with a stove for winter heating) and second class, the luggage deposit office and the station master's office, while the upper floors house the accommodation.

The station is devoid of rail traffic. Until June 2023 served by four pairs of trains of line A of the SFM, i.e. the Ceres-Turin Dora station section; during the summer school closures the trains stopped in Germagnano, being replaced by buses.

Bridge Of Vana

There are two bridges in Ceres, one old and one new. Both are named Ponte della Vana, the old one is an ancient bridge built on the rocks and surrounded by woods.

And this is the bridge in the hamlet of Vana, which for almost 300 years has crossed the Stura, the main stream of the Valli di Lanzo. With the characteristic humpback structure, it was built in stone in 1740.

4 days In Ceres

Ceres is a comune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Turin in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 35 kilometres (22 mi) northwest of Turin. The municipality is located in the Valli di Lanzo, at the confluence of the Val grande di Lanzo and the Val d'Ala, north-west of the Piedmontese capital.

Went up to Ceres for a few days to escape from the heat and to have a change of scenery.

The town thrives on residential tourism, due to the presence of many houses used as second homes, with the inhabitants coming from the Turin area, especially in the summer.

There are a few interesting strutures, such as:

-    Parish Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary

-    Sanctuary of Santa Cristina

-   Romanesque bell tower of Santa Marcellina, with a square base, 21 meters high, survivor of a        parish complex which collapsed due to a landslide

-   Grande Albergo Miravalle, built in 1870 to accommodate tourism in the town and functioning     until 1978. It currently appears as a fenced-in ruin, awaiting a complete renovation or a long-       awaited functional reconversion.

Man Who Blows Two Fluts

He sits by the side of the street and blows on his two fluts at the same time, trying hard to get some music out, but usually there is no music, at least to my ears, but just some strange noises. Anyway, at least he tried, someone might award him for his effort.

Pink Dot SG

Pink Dot SG, known exonymously as Pink Dot, is an event that has occurred annually since 2009 in support of the LGBT community in Singapore. Attendees of Pink Dot events gather to form a "pink dot" to show support for inclusiveness, diversity and the freedom to love in the country. Pink Dot events typically include concert performances and booths sponsored by organizations that support the LGBT community and cause in addition to the event's name-brand formation.

The success of Pink Dot in Singapore has inspired similar events in several other countries, leading to the event to become known as Pink Dot SG — SG being an initialism for Singapore. It has been held each year in Singapore from 2009 to 2019 at the Speakers' Corner in Hong Lim Park on a Saturday in the months of May, June or July. The 2020 and 2021 editions were held as online livestreams, in view of the global COVID-19 pandemic. The 2022 edition was held in-person once again in June.

This year, back to Singapore in June, walking from Orchard to Chinatown, passed by Hong Lim Park and realised that the infamous Pink Dot event was going on.

Stopped for a while to snap some photo, was unable to really join in because one of us is a foreigner and as a foreigner he is not allow to participe in the event.

Nevertheless, still feel amazing to be able to witness the event in Singapore.

Continue On Balon

Some stalls at the flea market Balon on Saturday are setup by the shops along the street, so basically the shops place their goods in front of the shops and business as usual.

Compared to the independent stalls, the things sell by the shops are more valueable, such as antiques and collectable items. Unlike the independent stalls which have more surprises.
