Wet Market

Mercato Porta Palazzo, the biggest open air market in Europe is normally not a so called 'Wet Market', like those we have in Singapore, but the rain is back and transformed it into a wet wet market.

The ground is wet, the people are less, making shopping seems less chaotic.

Raining Dogs And Cats

Finally the rain arrived, after one night and one day of raining dogs and cats, the temperature reduced from 38 °C to maximum of 19 °C and a minimum of 13 °C.

From the photos, it doesn't seem to be raining heavily, but during the night it was rather violent and throughout the day, it switched between drizzling and pouring.

Rainstorm

When the city just goes into the phase 2, more people are getting out to go around, the rainstorm begins.

Almost everyday, the first half of the day is clear and sunny, then out of a sudden, the dark clouds arrive and follow by rains and even hailstorm.

People then start to run for shelter, some bravehearts run across the street despite the heavy pour.

Sudden Pour

It seems everything is slowing going back to normal, as the weather too. Normally in Turin, rains love to come on weekends, during the lockdown, the few weekends were rather warm and dry, and today, while many people were out doing shopping and meeting up with friends, suddenly the rain came.

The sudden pour left the streets wet and making them look fresh and clean.

Lockdown The Forty-Ninth Day

49th day. Monday. Rainy day,
The whole day was dim and gloomy, it was the kind of rain which kept coming down, not heavily, but kept going the whole day.

The rain might be able to clean up the air, but it surely has no effect on the Coronvirus.

Yesterday, the Prime Minister Conte had announced the starting and the restrictions of the 2nd phase of the lockdown.
Quite a number of criticism and dissatisfactions have arisen.

The pandemia in Italy is showing sign of slowing down, but the spreading is still high and people are still dying. It has no sense to reopen everything all at once, reopening has to be done in phases.

Many people just too concentrate on their own problems and refuse to look at a bigger picture. They want the reopening to be soon and full, well, the virus might come back to attack soon and full too.

Perhaps, people should take the chance to get out onto the street, place themselves under the rain to clear their minds.

Arrival Of The Santa Couple

Is cold, even though it was snowing only for two days separately, the ground seems always wet, but it doesn't damp the mood of the tourists in town. Like these two guys wearing the same red santa hat wandering around piazza Castello taking photo and were in pretty cheerful mood.

Scenes Of A Raining Day

Standing in the center of piazza Castello, the rain came unexpectedly, most of the people were caught off guard.....

but not these umbrellas sellers, who seemed to be well informed of the arrival of rain, they always appeared before the rain with arms full of umbrellas, standing by the street or in the piazza, getting ready to offer to sell their umbrellas to people who had not a single clue that the rain was coming.

This was in May, since the 'promised' storm didn't arrived yesterday, the temperature remains hot, so hope this post can bring some sense of 'cooling' effect for the day.

Storm Arrival

Some days ago forecast predicted that a storm should be arriving, yet it didn't come. The temperature reaches 30 °C during the day, it is hot for spring, even though we are approaching summer now.
Just few weeks ago, the weather was rainly, dark clouds would approached out of a sudden and covered up the sky of Turin center.

A rainy day at via Garibaldi....
P.S. The storm arrived yesterday.

CDP April Theme : Wet

Is theme day again and it is WET!
Spring in Turin often brings in some rain, as though it is to wash away the past year and start all over again....

At Porta Palazzo open market, every Saturday evening after the market , the piazza where the market was had a complete wash over, so the ground will be obviously wet and plus the rain it gets even wetter....

Watering The Plants

Be aware of the watering schedule when passing by piazza Castello, accidentally you might get yourself wet by the jet of spraying water.

To keep the piazza attractive, flowers are placed along the surrounding of the castle, and to keep the flowers fresh and alive, systematic watering is inevitable.

Wet Via Roma

It was on a wet, rainy day, via Roma was blocked from traffic, the water was free to flow through the street without getting disturbed by running cars.

The result was as if a stream was running through via Roma, creating a great reflection on the ground.
